Ice fishing will be here soon

As of last Wednesday we now have 18 inches (45.7 cm) of snow on the ground. Temperatures were down to -4 deg F (-20 deg C) last night.

I bet the lakes are freezing. :)

Hey Ben, it looked like my house Monday morning. Thanks, but I'll pass on the ice fishing. Good luck though.

4" of great, clear ice here on the ponds - a few guys are on them already. Maybe this weekend!

Yup, I saw some shanties out on Lake Wingra today! Unfortunately, I made a pact with myself not to do any fishing until my thesis is finished. It's tough love on myself, I know, but it serves as good motivation.

I'll be out there soon.

Ice fishing, that is when your drink starts to get warm, right?
Thanks for the words Ben, I too am glad that my boat was ok.
Cheers

Haha, that's right. It's important to be properly prepared when you're out on the ice, which means you need something with a little more kick than coffee or hot chocolate to warm you up.

I picked up some Oscar Blues Ten FIDY (F*** It, Do it Yourself) imperial stout to get me through the cold this year. As far as I know, it's the strongest beer that can be purchased in a can in the world (10% abv). I'm really looking forward to it!
